Federal College of Education SUG Calls For Two Days Peaceful Protest Over Government Negligence of Main Road That Leads to Institution

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Students Union Government of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (FCEASU), has called for a two-day peaceful protest starting from Thursday, 23rd October 2025 to Friday, 24th October 2024, by 6:30am prompt, over government continued neglect of the access road leading to the institution.

OTN News further reports that, the students' government, who disclosed this in a public notice titled: "call for peaceful protest", noted that the deplorable state of the road has caused untold hardship to students, indigenes, staff, commuters, and indigenes of Osiele town, affecting transportation, safety, and general well-being.

The Union, who also alleged that they have appealed to several authorities but nothing was done, noted that the students have exercised enough patience, maintained dialogue, but the current condition now demands stronger collective action.

According to the notice, the Students Union Government of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (FCEASU), expresses deep concern over the continued neglect of the access road leading to our institution.

"The deplorable state of this road has caused untold hardship to students, indigenes, staff, commuters, and indigenes of Osiele town, affecting transportation, safety, and general well-being."

"Despite several appeals to relevant authorities, the situation remains unresolved. As a responsible and proactive Students Union, we have exercised enough patience and maintained dialogue, but the current condition now demands stronger collective action."

"FCEASU therefore calls on all students and indigenous Osiele youths to join in a peaceful and well coordinated protest in order to draw the urgent attention of both the local, state and federal government to this dilapidated and neglected road."

OTN News observes that the union, who, however, noted that the protest is guided by the principles of peace, order and unity, urged every participants to remain disciplined and respectful throughout the exercise.

OTN News, however, observes that the students' union, concluding its message with their slang "together, we stand for progress, safety and dignity," stressed that their demand is simple, and it is "a safe and motorable road from Osiele-Camp Junction."
