MAPOLY Media Students Steal the Show at Maiden Penpushing Media Award Competition
Media students from the Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have again made a loud statement about the age-long reputation of the Department as a flagship institution for pragmatic media studies in Nigeria as they won both the Gold and Bronze prizes at the maiden edition Penpushing Media Award Competition which held in Abeokuta on Thursday.

The Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta (MAPOLY) literarily stole the show at the maiden edition of the Penpushing Media Award in Abeokuta, beating other tertiary institutions, winning both gold and bronze in the competition.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the maiden edition of the media award was part of activities marking the 7th Anniversary Public Lectures themed; “Reworking Nigeria’s Federalism, Perspectives to Restructuring: The future of fiscal Federalism”, organised by the Penpushing Media, a foremost online media platform based in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
OTN News further reports that two media students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Fawaz Adebisi, (a final year student) and Olaitan Boluwatife (also a final year student), emerged as the gold and bronze medal winners, respectively, while Crescent University won the second prize at the media competition which attracted participation from other tertiary institutions across Southwest Nigeria.
The lecture for the 7th anniversary of the frontline media platform was delivered by the founder Human Capital, Africa, Dr. Obi Ezekwesili.
The competition, which was supervised and graded by renowned media gurus saw about seven institutions offering Mass Communication and Media related Studies in Southwest of Nigeria taking part in the contest.
The institutions that participated in the competition included: Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, DS Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Crescent University, Harvarde School of Management Studies and the Federal College of Education, Osiele; all competed for the available laurels at the competition.
Speaking on the inclusion of the Media Competition in the lined up activities for the annual anniversary of Penpushing Media, the founder of Penpushing Media, Mr Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, commended the participants from all the institutions present for honouring their invitation and their part in the competition.
He emphasized the professional and academic benefits of the competition, stating that it will be an eye opener for the participants and an additional legacy of the platform to the media training institutions.
Kayode-Adedeji further commended the winners, especially Fawaz of Moshood Abiola who came first, pointing out that he was not surprised as their department and institution is known for leadership in the media and communication education business.
He therefore pledged his commitment towards making the Media Competition an annual feature in subsequent editions of the Penpushing lecture series and a legacy project.
The event attracted a retinue of media professionals from both the print and electronic media landscape in Nigeria.
