MAIDUGIRI FLOOD:"We Will Continue to Support Borno,” IGP Egbetokun Reassures Amid Flood Crisis

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has reassured the government and people of Borno State of the police of the unbroken commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to rescue operations and support following the devastating flash floods that struck the state earlier in the week.
The Police Chief in a statement released mid week expressed deep sympathy for the loss of lives, property, and the displacement of residents due to the natural disaster.
“I pray that those who have lost loved ones find solace during this difficult time.” IGP Egbetokun said, as he extended his condolences to those families affected by the tragedy.
The IGP further emphasized that the police force remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of Borno’s residents.
“The Police Force will continuously deploy its human and material resources to aid rescue operations and give support in all areas to provide succour to the state and restore normalcy as much as possible,” he said with a tone of utmost assurances.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports that the IGP has directed the Borno State Commissioner of Police and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 15, Maiduguri, to intensify efforts in coordinating with the state government and relevant agencies to restore stability to the flood-affected areas.
OTN News recalls that it was earlier reported that a significant fraction of the land mass in Maidugiri got submerged under water following heavy floods have left many residents displaced and grappling with significant losses, prompting swift responses from various government bodies as the Federal Government has initiated moves to give succour to people of the state amid the humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile OTN News reports that other security agencies as well as humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross Society have also swung into action to give succour to the people of Maidugiri in the aftermath of the massive destructions the floods have wreaked in the state.
