LG Poll: Ogun Declares November 15 As Work-Free Day for Civil Servants

Ahead of the November 16 local government elections, the Ogun State Government has announced Friday, November 15, as a work-free day for all civil and public servants in the gateway state.
In a circular issued on Thursday by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, sighted by OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News, Governor Dapo Abiodun, approved the day off to allow State employees and public who desire to travel to their various Local Government Areas to perform their civic duty to do so without any hitch.
Onasanya emphasized that the decision underscores Governor Abiodun’s dedication to fostering civic engagement and democratic involvement within the State.
OTN further reports that the Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission, Babatunde Osibodu, said voting will begin by 8:00 am and end by 2:00 pm in all 5,042 polling units throughout the state.
He added that there would be no vehicle movement during the polls other than that of emergency vehicles or cars on official election duties.
OTN News further reports that in swift response to the circular which declared public holiday on Friday, public schools at all levels as swell as other public sector players have rolled out circulars affirming the public holiday.
