OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the lagos state police command has arrested the popular media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, following a disturbing incident in which he was caught driving recklessly while broadcasting live on social media.

OTN News further reports that the development, which was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, was as a result of the dangerous act by the Tictoker which resulted in a serious road accident, sparking public outrage and raising concerns about road safety.

According to the information made available to the public, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The police described Peller’s actions as extremely risky and potentially fatal, not only to himself but also to other motorists and pedestrians who were using the road at the time.

SP Abimbola Adebisi, explained that the influencer was arrested and detained due to the grave threat his conduct posed to public safety.

She further explained that Peller was visibly driving at excessive speed during a live social media broadcast when the accident happened, an act the police classified as reckless and irresponsible.

“The suspect was seen driving at a dangerous speed during a live broadcast, which ultimately led to a motor accident that exposed him and other innocent road users to serious danger,” Adebisi stated.

The Lagos State Police Command further disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.

Authorities assured the public that once investigations are concluded, the findings will be made known, and the suspect will be formally charged before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to social media influencers, content creators, and the general public. He cautioned against using online platforms to encourage or showcase reckless, illegal, or criminal behavior.

According to him, such actions will not be condoned, stressing that anyone found engaging in similar conduct will face the full consequences of the law.

He, however, urged all motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations at all times, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to protecting lives, maintaining public order, and ensuring safety on Lagos roads.
