Like Davido, Another Nigerian, Dr Ayodeji Ojo Bags State of Georgia Citizens Honour

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the State of Georgia has continued to recognise the remarkable achievements of Nigerians making waves in the United States as Dr. Olufunso Ayodeji Ojo, a Nigerian-born medical practitioner, was honoured with the prestigious Outstanding Georgia Citizen, status, (OGCS) in 2025.
OTN News further reports that following in the footsteps of music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who received the same recognition in 2024, Dr. Ojo received the award during the annual International Day at the Capitol, a high-profile state event celebrating global contributions to the community.
The award was presented by Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, who commends Dr. Ojo for his exceptional service in the medical field and his compassionate commitment to patient care.
“Dr. Ojo’s expertise in internal medicine, coupled with his empathetic approach to patient care, has set a standard of excellence in the medical community, inspiring both his colleagues and future generations of healthcare professionals,” Raffensperger says.
Originally from Ijero-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria, Dr. Ojo is widely respected for his work as an internal medicine specialist. With a 4.5-star rating for his bedside manner and patient focused approach, he is recognized as a beacon of hope and healing for many in Georgia and beyond.
Beyond his medical career, Dr. Ojo is celebrated for his philanthropic efforts, engaging in community outreach and health education. His humanitarian work spans local and international communities, addressing critical issues in healthcare, education, and social development.
“Dr. Ojo’s outstanding achievements and dedication to his profession and philanthropic endeavors have brought great pride to the State of Georgia,” Raffensperger adds. “His work is a testament to the power of compassion, skill, and perseverance.”
The honour places Dr. Ojo among an elite group of Nigerians who have made a lasting impact abroad, reinforcing the growing influence and positive contributions of the Nigerian diaspora in the United States.
