In a dramatic turn of events, Kenyan citizens have issued a stern ultimatum to their President, William Ruto, to resign within the next 48 hours or face the consequences.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija gathered that the demand comes as citizens rally for a new government committed to transparency, accountability, and good governance.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija further gathered that, the groundswell of this discontent began with a viral Twitter statement that boldly declared, "We no longer recognize William Ruto as the President of Kenya." The statement urged Ruto to step down immediately and surrender his office to the Kenyan people.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija discovered that the Kenyans are said to have struggled with economic instability, rampant corruption, and governance issues, leading to escalating living costs and high unemployment rates.

Furthermore, OPEN TELEVISION Naija also got to know that the president had earlier signed a bill that proposed tax increasment.

According to the president, the bill aimed to address Kenya's staggering debt of approximately 10 trillion shillings ($78 billion), equivalent to roughly 70% of the country's GDP.

However, fierce opposition from citizens erupted as they cried out that why would the president do such a thing despite that the people are finding it difficult to survival in the country.

President Ruto who saw the harsh reaction of his citizens toward the bill he signed, defended the tax increases, emphasized that there is necessity to fund critical development programs, including support for farmers and teachers.

The president however, retracted the bill when he saw how bitter and outrageous the citizens were toward the tax increasement. E

Despite Ruto's retraction of the controversial finance bill proposing tax increases, public anger remains unabated.

The citizens whose frustration has climax into protests took to the streets, expressing their dissatisfaction with the administration, which they describe as plagued by “incompetence, mismanagement, and a persistent failure to address the nation’s pressing needs.”

Kenyan police were said to have fired rubber bullets and tear gas at demonstrators while soldiers were deployed and roads leading to Ruto’s office at State House and parliament were blocked by police in anti-riot gear.
