The Superfalcons of Nigeria have won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025, in a thrilling 3 -2 comeback win over Morroco, making it the 10th time Nigeria is crowned African champions in the tournament.

Jubilation reverberated through the streets of Nigeria on Saturday night as the Super Falcons of Nigeria, for the 10th time, made a loud statement about their supremacy in African women’s football by staging a dramatic win over Morocco in the final match at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025, carting home 3 out of five available awards at the championship.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Falcons proved their superiority over an equally determined Moroccan side in the tough and tight final match, which ended 3 goals to 2 in favour of Nigeria.

Although Morroco took an early lead, Nigeria’s Super Falcons came from behind to secure a dramatic 3–2 victory over Morocco in the breathtaking Women’s Africa Cup of Nations clash played on Saturday.

Morocco took an early lead through Ghizlane Chebbak in the 12th minute, and doubled their advantage when Sanaâ Mssoudy found the back of the net in the 24th minute.

However, Nigeria responded with a determined second-half performance that turned the game around.

Esther Okoronkwo pulled one back for Nigeria in the 64th minute from the penalty spot, before Folashade Florence Ijamilusi levelled the scoreline with a goal in the 71st minute.

Jennifer Echegini completed the comeback with a late winner in the 88th minute, sealing the Super Falcons’ win.

OTN News further reports that Nigeria swept three out of the five awards available on the table at the end of the women African championship.

Orlu born Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays for Brighton FC of England after moving from Paris FC, retained the CAF Golden Gloves award for Best Goalkeeper for the 2nd consecutive time, 2023 and 2024.

She was Di Arkem Goalkeeper of the season 2023-2024. IFFHS Africa’s Best Goalkeeper in the diaspora in 2919.

Also, Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, popularly called Mummy G. O. (because of her Christian preaching and prayer poises), who won three woman of the match awards out of six matches played was crowned BEST PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT.
