Black Friday Hits Nigeria With Twin Kidnappings of Commissioner, Wife, 20 Medical Students in Kogi and Benue States

Friday August16, 2024 may go down in history as another black Friday in the history of Nigeria as the country witnessed series of high-profile kidnappings in Kogi and Benue states respectively.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that in Kogi state, Anambra State Commissioner for Youth,Agba Mba was kidnapped with his wife along Kogi road while on their way to Abuja for the wedding of Governor Soludo’s daughter in Abuja, while one of his Aides was killed by the abductors.
On the same day but in Benue state, no fewer than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer were abducted by yet to be identified gunmen, in Benue State.
The abduction of the Anambra Commissioner and his wife,has been confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Chria Abarume who told pressmen that actions were being taken to ensure that the victims are released safely and as quickly as possible.
The Police in Anambra State said the incident was yet to be reported as the Command Police Public Relations officer, Tochukwu Ikenga said such incident has not been reported to the Police in Anambra State.
Meanwhile,the 20 medical students were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu when they were ambushed by gunmen in Benue.
The victims, reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were traveling together when the attack occurred around 5:30 p.m on Friday in the Otukpo area of the state.
The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident stating that an investigation has been launched into the abduction.
