A Nigerian company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) has announced the launch of its first locally produced electric vehicle, marking a historic moment for the company and Nigeria's automotive industry.

The Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Cornel Osigwe, at IVM, made the announcement through a social media post, where he highlighted the importance of this achievement.

He noted that the production of an electric vehicle within Nigeria is a significant step forward, not just for the company but for the entire country.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that this positive development showcases IVM's commitment to innovation and its growing influence in the sector.

The electric vehicle was produced at IVM’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Nnewi, Anambra State.

This facility is known for its cutting-edge technology and skilled workforce, which together made the production of Nigeria’s first electric vehicle possible.

This milestone is expected to boost the local automotive industry, positioning Nigeria as a potential hub for electric vehicle production in Africa.

IVM’s leadership believes this will not only foster innovation but also encourage further investment in sustainable vehicle manufacturing in the region.
