By: Olufemi Orunsola

In a bold move towards finding a lasting solution to the worsening security situation in the Northern part of the country, the 19 Northern State Governors will hold a crucial meeting on Saturday, November 29.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the development was announced by the Senior Special Assistant to the Nasarawa State Governor on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba.

According to Ahemba, the Northern Governors’ meeting scheduled for November 29, will hold in Kaduna.

He further revealed that a roll call of prominent traditional rulers will attend the meeting.

Ahemba assured that decisive decisions will be made during meeting to ensure the region security.

In his words,"The meeting aims to develop a unified approach to tackling security concerns affecting the region and discuss the way forward on security matters.”

He further adds that, "Due to the security challenges in some northern states, the Nasarawa State government has taken proactive measures by organizing an emergency security meeting, where decisive decisions will be made to prevent any breach of security in the state.”

“It is the duty of citizens to help deal with security threats in our country and state. Therefore, citizens must do well by providing security agencies with relevant information about individuals with criminal tendencies," he noted.

OTN News observes that the convened Northern Governors Forum meeting is coming days after the South West Governors Forum equally converged on Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for a similar regional security meeting where strategic decisions were taken on security in the South-West states of Nigeria.
