Multiple award winning Nigerian actress and box office record breaker, Funke Akindele popularly known as Jenifa has issued a stern warning to fans and moviegoers against pirating her upcoming film, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
In a viral video shared on her Instagram page on during the week, Akindele called on her followers to avoid recording or distributing the movie illegally, describing piracy as a criminal activity that negatively affects the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
According to her, "Piracy is a crime that affects us all in the film industry. We invest so much time, effort, and money to bring quality productions to life."
Akindele further pleaded saying, “I beg my fans, don’t record the movie in cinemas or post unauthorized clips online. Support us the right way.”
The Nollywood actress revealed that strict security measures have been implemented in cinemas to curb piracy.
Jenifa therefore warned, “If you’re caught filming or sharing my movie illegally, you will be arrested, and we will ensure you face legal consequences.”
She also appealed to her fans to support the film by engaging positively: “Take pictures with the movie’s standees, share the trailers, and encourage others to watch it in cinemas. That’s how you can truly show your love.”
Highlighting the quantum of hard work, sacrifices and resources invested in the production, Akindele said, “We spent a lot of money and effort on Everybody Loves Jenifa. This is more than just a movie for me; it’s a testament to hard work and passion. Piracy undermines this effort and hinders the growth of our industry.”

Funke Akindele concludes her plea by saying “Piracy is not support. Let’s stop it. Watch the movie in cinemas and let’s grow this industry together.”
