Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has pledged his full support for the upcoming Filmmaker, Lateef Adedimeji's historical film titled "Lisabi", which is set to premiere on Netflix soon.

During a meeting with the popular filmmaker, Lateef Adedimeji and his wife, Adebimpe Adedimeji, on Wednesday evening, OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that Governor Abiodun called on theatre practitioners nationwide to take on the important role of educating younger generations about the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s past heroes.

The Governor noted that through cinematic portrayals, youths will better understand the significance of figures like Lisabi Agbogbon Akala, whose story is central to Ogun State’s history.

Adedimeji expressed his gratitude for the Governor’s encouragement, emphasizing the importance of continuing to bring historical narratives to the big screen.

He also revealed plans to develop a film village and resort in Abeokuta, near Ogun State Television (OGTV), aimed at ensuring the stories of Ogun’s heroes are filmed within the State.

“We are here because Ogun is my home." he proudly said.

"The film, 'Lisabi Agbogbon Akala,' about one of our great heroes, will be available on Netflix from September 27th. We felt it was only fitting to premiere it in Ogun State, as it tells a story rooted in our culture and history,” Adedimeji revealed.

OTN News further reportd that Adedimeji also highlighted ongoing efforts to create a film village in Ogun State, which will attract filmmakers and visitors, further promoting Ogun's rich heritage.

In addition, Adedimeji disclosed that the new film village is located near OGTV on Mile 6 Road, Ajebo Road.

"There are many stories of our heroes to tell, and it's crucial that these stories are filmed here in Ogun, not elsewhere," he concluded.
