Gov. Sanwo-Olu Leads Lagos Delegation to FNITCC Atlanta to Showcase Africa’s Largest Economy

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will lead the Lagos State delegation to the 2025 Fidelity Nigeria International Trade & Creative Connect (FNITCC) in Atlanta, United States.
OTN News further reports as gathered that this new development which was disclosed in a statement by Fidelity Bank Plc, organisers of the global trade initiative, confirmed that the Governor will use the FNITCC platform to project Lagos as Africa’s largest economy and explore possible sister-city partnerships with Atlanta and Georgia State.
According to the governor, “Lagos is a city of enterprise, creativity, and boundless opportunity. At FNITCC Atlanta, we are not only showcasing Lagos as Africa’s largest economy, but also building bridges of trade, investment, and cultural exchange with our partners in Atlanta and the wider United States.
"This engagement underscores our commitment to positioning Lagos as a truly global city, where innovation thrives, partnerships flourish, and prosperity is shared," Sanwo-Olu added.
OTN News observes from the information gathered that, FNITCC Atlanta, hosted in collaboration with AFRICON, is scheduled for September 18 to 20, 2025, and is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants, including investors, trade agencies, exporters, and diaspora professionals.
Furthermore, the organisers project that the event could facilitate trade and investment deals worth over US$500 million.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Fidelity Bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, said the conference presents a unique opportunity for Lagos to strengthen its global trade and investment presence.
"According to the Dr., we are honoured to host the Lagos State delegation, led by His Excellency Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the third edition of our global trade initiative—FNITCC—taking place in Atlanta.
“As the largest economy on the continent, Lagos State is well-positioned to capitalise on the wide range of opportunities we are creating to ensure Nigerian products are effectively received within the global marketplace, especially on the American continent through FNITCC Atlanta. OTN News further observes from the information gathered that the three-day conference which was proposed in the released statement, will feature workshops, seminars, and panels with prominent leaders, including Mustafa Chike-Obi, Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc; Aishah Ahmad, Global Finance Leader and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; Abba Bello, Managing Director of Nigerian Export Import Bank (NEXIM); and Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, Group Managing Director/CEO of Sunbeth Global Concepts Nigeria Ltd.
Other highlights include dedicated deal rooms, exhibitions of African products across agriculture, fashion, extractive industries, creative sectors, and professional services, as well as targeted matchmaking sessions to connect U.S. investors and buyers with African businesses.
