OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the prominent human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called on Southeast political, religious, and traditional leaders to join him in a peaceful protest march to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
OTN News further reports as gathered that in a statement shared on social media, Sowore urged prominent figures and citizens of conscience from the Southeast to move beyond public declarations and take concrete action.
“I will set aside my differences with some politicians for one cause… Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa,” he declared.
Sowore specifically named Southeast leaders who have previously voiced support for Kanu’s release — including Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi — urging them to physically join the march.
He said their presence would demonstrate genuine commitment to justice rather than mere rhetoric.
The activist emphasized that the planned protest would be peaceful, lawful, and symbolic, aimed at drawing attention to what he described as the continued persecution of Nnamdi Kanu.
He also reiterated that the demand for Kanu’s release transcends politics or regional sentiment, insisting it is a matter of justice and respect for human rights.
Sowore, however, concluded his message with a rallying call to Nigerians: “Chikena! Jisie Ike! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”
