Few Days to Wedding, Messi’s Sister Maria Sol Hospitalised After Miami Car Crash, Wedding Postponed

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that Maria Sol Messi, sister of global football icon Lionel Messi, is recovering in hospital after being involved in a serious car accident in Miami, an incident that has forced the postponement of her upcoming wedding.
OTN News further reports as gathered that reports from Argentina said that the 32-year-old sustained multiple injuries after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a wall.
The reports further added that the accident, which occurred just days before her planned nuptials, left her with burns and spinal injuries, prompting immediate medical attention.
Providing an update on her condition, Argentine journalist, Ángel de Brito disclosed on the US television programme, LAM that Maria Sol is no longer in danger.
“Messi’s sister is okay, she’s out of danger, but I checked with the family because she was supposed to get married in Rosario, Argentina, on January 3, and the wedding has had to be suspended,” de Brito said.
He added that the injuries include burns and displaced vertebrae, noting that recovery from such trauma can take considerable time.
He further added that, following initial treatment in Miami, Maria Sol has since returned to her hometown of Rosario, Argentina, where she has begun a rehabilitation programme.
OTN News observs from the information gathered that, further details from her mother, Celia Cuccittini, revealed the extent of the injuries, confirming that Maria Sol suffered fractures to two vertebrae, as well as injuries to her heel and wrist.
According to family accounts, the accident occurred after she reportedly fainted while driving, leading to the collision.
Although reports differ on the precise circumstances surrounding the crash, the Messi family has confirmed that her injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.
As a result of her condition, her wedding to Julián “Tuli” Arellano, a coach with Inter Miami’s under-19 team, has been postponed indefinitely.
OTN News further observes that Maria Sol Messi, a fashion designer and entrepreneur, has largely remained out of the public spotlight despite her family’s global fame.
She previously worked as brand manager for The Messi Store, her brother’s clothing brand, collaborating with Virginia Hilfiger, sister of renowned designer Tommy Hilfiger.
The family has not announced a new date for the wedding, with sources indicating that Maria Sol’s full recovery remains the priority.
