'Your Steadfast Prayers Crucial for Attaining MAPOLY Repositioning Agenda', Rector Jolaoso Tells MAPOLY Christian Union Alumni

The Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, Arc. Dr Adekoyejo Jolaoso has charged Christian Alumni members of the Polytechnic to remain steadfast in their prayers for the institution as it is crucial towards attaining its institutional repositioning agenda.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Rector, who was ably represented by the Director, Academic Planning Unit of the Polytechnic, Dr. Olayiwola Sojobi, gave this charge on Sunday at the grand finale of the 2025 Annual Thanksgiving and Homecoming Service of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Christian Union Alumni Fellowship held at the Fellowship’s Auditorium at Sodubi, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Sojobi, while delivering the Rector’s address at the event aimed to reconnect and reposition members of the Fellowship for greater kingdom impact, said, the Rector appreciated the theme of this Year’s event of the Fellowship, namely *“Divine Repositioning”*. He said the theme was relevant to the present situation and experiences in the Polytechnic. He said since he assumed office in December last year, he has continued to make efforts to reposition the Polytechnic.
He highlighted some of those efforts, including liquidating all indebtedness of the Polytechnic to financial Institutions, organising a combined Convocation Ceremony, the first in almost a decade, regular payment of staff salaries and other emoluments, giving timely attention to staff promotion and other welfare issues, etc.
Dr. Jolaoso said he believed these efforts were orchestrated by God Himself, not by his human effort.
The Rector went down the memory lane by recalling the 2017 Ipokia debacle, during which the 46-year-old Polytechnic faced a serious existential challenge. He said for two years, 2017-2019, the Polytechnic was in the wilderness, and if not for the divine intervention and mercies of God, the Institution, as MAPOLY, Abeokuta, may have gone into extinction.
Dr Jolaoso said he shared MAPOLY's experiences as an institution that went through years of threats to its continued existence with the congregation to encourage them individually and as a group, so that they will know that God is still in the business of repositioning, and that they should table before Him any aspect of their life, business, education, family, etc., which may require to be divinely repositioned.
While appreciating contributions of various MAPOLY alumni groups to the development of the Polytechnic, Dr. Jolaoso recalled some of the recent support, including the “Legacy House” bequeathed the Polytechnic by the 1994 set of graduates from the Marketing Department, and the recent donation of a refurbished studio by the 1995 set from the Mass Communication Department who were celebrating 30 years of their graduation from the Polytechnic. He said he looked forward to receiving more support from the alumni groups, even as the Polytechnic looked forward to celebrating its golden anniversary in January 2029. Dr Jolaoso charged the Fellowship to continue to support the Polytechnic in prayer.
The Rector also took advantage of the ocassion to share crucial information about NELFUND Nigerian Education Loan Fund with the assembly, revealing tha the Fund’s portal for the 2025/2026 academic session is open, and members of the Fellowship should pass this information to their family and friends, some of whom might have wards in the Polytechnic.
Arc.Jolaoso said NELFUND pays the school fees of beneficiaries 100% and also pays them a monthly upkeep allowance/support. He posited that NELFUND is a sort of divine repositioning in the Nigerian education system, which aims at ensuring that no student in public tertiary Institutions complains of a lack of funds to pay School fees.
While concluding his address, the Rector reminded the assembly that divine repositioning could come with both pleasant and painful experiences. He recalled how Abraham was repositioned from his homeland, Ur, to the promised land, Canaan, how Joseph was repositioned from the pit and the prison to the palace, and so many other biblical examples. He said in many of these instances, God used both pleasant and painful experiences. He encouraged the congregation to be well prepared for such.
He, however, assured the congregation that although divine repositioning may not always be comfortable, it is always purposeful.
The Rector thanked the Fellowship for sustaining the annual reunion and for inviting him as the Special Guest for this year’s event.
Dignitaries who graced the event included Pastor Ezekiel Obasanya (the Fellowship’s International liaison Officer), who is the immediate past National President of MAPOLY Alumni Association (MAPALUM), Brother Adeshina Adedamola (National Chairman), and other invited Ministers of the gospel.
