Black Monday Averted in Abeokuta As Fleeing Truck Reportedly Crushes Micra Taxi, Destroys Other Cars at Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta

A road crash that could have resulted in grave fatalities was on Monday evening averted in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State as a truck reportedly fleeing from a scene where it had earlier in the evening, hit a vehicle and got billed a settlement fee of N70,000 crushed a Micra Taxi, causing multiple accidents that destroyed other vehicles.

According to eye witness accounts at the Oke Ilewo scene of the accident, gathered by OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) NEWS correspondents, plate AKM 617 XB had descended the Ibara fly over bridge on high speed screeching as it wanted to navigate the descent of the bridge and lost its balance with a side of its back tyres hanging in the air following which, it fell on a Micra Taxi and crushed it.

Eye witness accounts further revealed that the taxi which was initially scheduled to pick up some school pupils within the area had no passenger on board except the taxi driver when it got crushed but the said driver who substained some degrees of injuries was rushed to State Hospital Ijaye.

OTN News further reports that the driver has been arrested while men of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and the Transport Section of the Nigeria Police have moved to the scene of the accident and have successfully evacuated the affected vehicles from the scene as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile no death was recorded in the road crash.
