In a powerful display of solidarity, hundreds of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), bloggers, and content creators have taken to the streets of Abuja to express their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu's administration.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that, the pro-Tinubu rally, held on Wednesday, emphasizes the importance of constructive dialogue and collaboration with the government, urging Nigerians to avoid violent protests that could lead to chaos.

Recall that, in that past few days, Nigerians have been divided over a planed nation-wide anri-hungrf vv protest set to hold on the first of August, 2024 to fight against the government in power over the hardships in the country.

Nevertheless, hundreds of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), bloggers, and content creators moved to the streets of Abuja to express their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Speaking on behalf of over 20 groups at the pro-Tinubu rally, Murtala Adebayo, highlighted the potential dangers associated with organizing such protests.

He cautioned against allowing acts of violence and lawlessness to overshadow the legitimate issues at hand.

He said, "While we recognise the importance of expressing our concerns and advocating change, we must also understand the potential dangers associated with organising a violent protest

"The proposed protest, if not managed carefully, is at the risk of being hijacked by hoodlums and elements with malicious intent.

"This could transform a peaceful demonstration into an event marked by violence and disorder, ultimately diverting attention from the legitimate issues at hand.

"We must not allow our efforts to be overshadowed by acts of violence and lawlessness."

Meanwhile, Magret Thomas, representing the Women Supporting Women For Good Governance (WSWGG), praised President Tinubu's transformative policies, particularly those empowering women economically.

She said, under President Tinubu's leadership, Nigeria has witnessed transformative policies aimed at empowering women economically, noting that a violent protest has the potential to reverse the gains made so far

She said the administration's focus on women’s entrepreneurship has led to the creation of numerous initiatives providing financial support and training for female entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, Magret elucidated that, the establishment of microcredit schemes and grants has enabled countless women to start and expand their businesses, contributing to economic growth and reducing gender inequality.

She said, "However, in the light of the proposed protest, it is crucial to consider the potential risks and consequences.

"Protests, while a democratic right, can sometimes be hijacked by elements with malicious intent, leading to violence and disruption.

"Such outcomes could undermine the progress we have made, particularly in empowering women and promoting good governance." Magret said.

Also, the Secretary General of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria (COCSON), Mallam Abubakar Malami, in his address at a separate rally, echoed the call for constructive dialogue.

He emphasized on the importance of safeguarding the stability and progress which the nation has achieved, while addressing concerns.

He said, "By working collaboratively, we can address our concerns while safeguarding the stability and progress we have achieved.

"Let us channel our energy towards constructive dialogue, fostering an environment of peace and development for the benefit of all Nigerians."

Malami explained that, in view of the achievements of the Tinubu administration, it is crucial to recognise the potential risks associated with the proposed protest.

He said, "While the right to protest is fundamental in a democracy, it is essential to ensure that our actions do not inadvertently disrupt the progress we have made.

"Unfortunately, protests can be susceptible to hijacking by hoodlums, leading to violence and destructions that undermine our collective efforts."

Despite the democratic right to protest, he urged Nigerians to explore alternative means of engagement with the government, recognizing the potential risks associated with disruptive actions.
