OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that an hotel under construction in the Idumoza community, Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, has collapsed and killed its owner, identified as Andrew Isesere.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the remains of the deceased were reportedly pulled out of the rubble on Sunday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, over 20 workers at the site narrowly escaped death as the building collapsed last Friday, trapping the owner inside.

Some neighbours who spoke to journalists over the weekend, said that, they cautioned the owner about the quality of materials used for the construction, but he didn't pay keen ear to their warnings.

A neighborhood, said. “The owner was told he was using low-quality material. He used 12mm instead of 16mm rods for the pillars. There was no base basket at the pillars. Look at the result.

Another neighbour, identified as Andrew Inegbebor, explained, “The building collapsed because of substandard materials that were used. There was no engineer on site. The dead owner supervised the house. The house later collapsed and killed the owner, but some workers escaped,”

However, when contacted, the spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, said he was yet to receive a brief from the DPO in charge of Uromi Police Division on the incident.
