Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital, Visits Morgue To Pay Tribute To Friends Killed In Accident

Nigerian-British boxer, who recently cheated death in a road crash by whiskers, Anthony Joshua and his mother have visited a Lagos funeral home on Wednesday to pay their final respects as the bodies of the late friends were prepared for repatriation later in the evening.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that Anthony Joshua made the move after he was discharged from hospital following the road accident on December 29, 2025, that claimed the lives of his two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele.
Joshua was deemed clinically fit to recuperate at home, though he remained “heavy hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends,” a joint statement from the Lagos and Ogun state governments on Wednesday said.
The statement was signed by Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State, and Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Ogun State.
According to the statement, Joshua and his mother visited a Lagos funeral home on Wednesday afternoon to pay their final respects as the bodies of the late friends were prepared for repatriation later in the evening.
In a joint statement, the governments of Lagos and Ogun states expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, saying: “We pray The Almighty grant the repose of their souls whilst granting their families and loved ones the fortitude to bear this very sad and painful loss.”
The statement also thanked members of the public and the President for their support, saying, “Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu deeply appreciate the public concern and show of love and affection over this very sad and unfortunate incident.
“They also appreciate Mr President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for all fatherly support he gave throughout the process.”
The governments further commended medical personnel at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, “that attended to Anthony and those that sustained injuries”.
“The quality of care and professionalism is truly commendable,” they said.
