19-Year-Old Nigerian, Sarah Solarin Achieves 5.0 CGPA, Graduates With First-Class in Computer Science, Wins Multiple Awards At Babcock University

A 19-year-old Nigerian, Sarah Solarin, has made headlines by graduating with first-class honors in Computer Science from Babcock University, Nigeria.
Sarah emerged as the overall best-graduating student in the School of Computing and Engineering Sciences, a feat she proudly shared on LinkedIn.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that in her final semester, Sarah achieved a perfect 5.0 CGPA and excelled in her final year project, titled Brain Tumor Identification and Classification Using YOLOv5 in Radiomics Analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scans, earning an impressive A grade of 90.
She also earned the title of the student with the highest cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in her department and was named the overall best-graduating student of her faculty.
Her academic journey was marked by several awards, including the prestigious Google Generation Scholarship for academic merit, the Dean’s Prize for the highest CGPA in the School of Computing, and the Engineer (Dr.) Akin Alade Family Award for outstanding performance.
She also received the Folajimi Daodu Award, the Labulo Prize from Professors Biodun and Elizabeth Disu, and the Michael Adetutu Foundation’s Academic Excellence Award, which included a cash prize, a plaque, and life-coaching opportunities.
Additionally, Sarah earned the New Horizons Computer Learning Centers International IT/E-Biz Certification Excellence Prize and secured a three-month paid internship through the US-based Kibo School Programme.
Expressing her gratitude, Sarah credited her success to God, her family, friends, mentors, and the unwavering support of her project supervisor, departmental dean, and Head of Department.
Looking ahead, Sarah is excited about the opportunities in Computer Science and is determined to make meaningful contributions to the field.
