17 Deputy Vice-Chancellors, JAMB Staff Nabbed as Board Uncovers 15,000 Forged Admission Letters for NYSC Mobilisation

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered a massive fraud involving no fewer than 15,000 candidates who allegedly forged admission letters to qualify for participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

OTN News further reports that the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who made the shocking revelation during the 2025 Batch C Pre-Mobilisation Workshop organised by the NYSC in Abuja, disclosed that the affected candidates, alongside several implicated officials, are currently facing prosecution for forgery and related offences.

According to him, the discovery followed an extensive internal audit and cross-verification of records across various tertiary institutions.

“One day I ran to your predecessor (referring to DG of NYSC) because I couldn’t believe that 15,000 candidates forged admission letters.

“As I speak with you some deputy registrars are being tried by ICPC. Some deputy vice – chancellors, not less than 17, including four JAMB staff, are in prison custody. We took them to ICPC.

“Those who want to go to jail should do so knowingly, not by accident.

The JAMB boss warned education administrators and candidates against engaging in fraudulent practices, stressing that adherence to due process would save them from legal troubles.

“I want to advise you: follow the rules and you will have less problems. I suggest you follow the right path and you will see that most of the problems that are self-created by you will be eliminated.”

OTN News observes that the revelation has sparked widespread concern about the integrity of Nigeria’s higher education and NYSC mobilisation processes.

Stakeholders have since called for stricter verification measures and closer collaboration between JAMB, NYSC, and tertiary institutions to prevent further cases of admission-related fraud.
