Yoruba Nation Agitator, Adeyemo Lateef Dies In NCS Custody

One of the agitators advocating for the Yoruba Nation, Adejumo Lateef, has died in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Services, as disclosed during a court session on Wednesday.  

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News, reports that Lateef was among 27 individuals charged with conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and treason following the April 2024 invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat, aimed at declaring the Yoruba Nation (Oodua Republic). 

He was listed as the 18th defendant in the trial which is being overseen by Justice K. B. Olawoyin at the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan. 

The judge has adjourned the proceedings to November 6, 8, and 13 for further arraignment and hearing.

The other defendants include Adeyemo Peter, Adeyemo Joseph, Amos Oluwaseyi Ogundeji, Ayanwale Rofiat, Olalere Mathew, Ismaila Malomo Peter, Fatoki Anthony, and Murittala Abefe, along with several others.  

All 27 individuals are facing five charges which are conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, unlawful assembly, treasonable felony, and treason.
