We Bought Fuel At N898 Per Litre From Dangote, Says NNPCL

As rightly predicted by experts who had cautioned Nigerians against thinking that once Dangote Refinery starts distribution of its petrol, the price of petrol will drop significantly, indications have emerged that Dangote Refinery sold petrol to NNPCL at N898 per litre, leaving Nigerians wondering how much the product will be sold at NNPCL retail stations across the country

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has revealed that Dangote Refinery sold fuel to them at N898 per litre.

Recall that OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News has in previous reports recorded it that NNPCL began loading on Sunday, after moving about 300 trucks to the 650,000 capacity refinery in Lagos.

The spokesperson of the NNPCL Olufemi Soneye, who made this known while speaking with Daily Trust clarified that price at which NNPCL bought fuel is actually N898 per litre, noting that "the claim that we purchased it at N760 per liter is incorrect."

He further reveals that, “For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was N898 per liter." adding that "At least, over 70 trucks have been loaded so far." with other trucks still being loaded as at the time of filing this report.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News therefore recalls the opinions expressed by experts published in previous news reports on this platform that market forces, will determine the pricing of petrol produced by Dangote's Refinery.

OTN News also recalls that the revelation by NNPCL's spokesperson further confirms the submission of experts who had earlier warned Nigerians not to expect significant drop in the price of premium motor spirit also known as petrol across the country.

While no official announcements have been made about the price at which NNPCL retail outlets will sell petrol per litre, the indications have already emerged that the price of fuel in the retail outlets of the NNPCL will not be less than N898, the price at which the fuel were purchased from Dangote Refinery except the Federal Government decides to subsidize the rates.
