In a response to the rumors which gained traction after statements attributed to renowned Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan surfaced online, global streaming service, Netflix has refuted the reports suggesting it is existing Nigeria.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports that Netflix, through its public relations partner Hill & Knowlton Strategies, categorically denied any intention to leave Nigeria.

In the viral claims, Afolayan reportedly alleged that Netflix had canceled several previously commissioned projects in Nigeria, adding fuel to the speculation.

However, the Group Account Director at the PR firm, Edafe Onoriode, emphasized Netflix's dedication to supporting Nigeria’s creative industry.

Onoriode stated, “We are not exiting Nigeria. We will continue to invest in Nigerian stories to delight our members."

Netflix, which has been active in Nigeria since 2016, remains a significant player in the local creative economy, fostering storytelling that resonates with audiences both locally and globally.

With this clarification, the streaming platform reassures its commitment to developing and showcasing Nigerian talent to its international audience.
