WATER SPORTS FEAT: Lagos Set to Make History As First African City To Host E1 Racing Championship

The aquatic state of Lagos, Nigeria, is set to make history as the first city in Africa to host the electric boat water sports following the announcement by Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu that the state will host the E1 Racing Championship on OOctober 4 and 5, 2025.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the landmark event marks the first time an African city will stage the innovative electric boat racing series, further consolidating the global reputation of Lagos State as a hub of progress, sustainability, and cultural vibrancy.
The Lagos state Governor, Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while speaking after attending the championship in Monaco over the weekend, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, describing it as a testament to the power of innovation and bold vision.
In his words, “The E1 Racing Championship is a groundbreaking fusion of technology and determination,” he said.
He added that, “Hosting it in Lagos underscores our city’s readiness to lead in the global dialogue on clean energy, sustainability, and advanced marine transportation.”
The E1 Championship, a pioneering series featuring electric-powered boats, aligns with Lagos’ ambitions to embrace eco-friendly solutions while showcasing its dynamic spirit.
