Viral Leaked Video of Senator Sahabi Yau Romancing Woman Debunked, It's False, Old Video

The social media landscape in Nigeria got ready to boil following a thread about the purported leaked video of the Senator representing the good people of Zamfara North senatorial district in Zamfara State,
Senator Sahabi Alhaji Yau, after the caption, "Is this what Senators now do in the National Assembly? Grandfathers are not competing with Gen Z on leaks . Shameful generation " got tagged to a short 56-second video mid week.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News, however, reports that the viral video in question has been confirmed false and totalling mischievous.
OTN News further reports that rhe popular X platform from which rhe video surfaced has suddenly switched to a self-regulatory mode as a couple of Netizens have condemned the viral video, appealing to the source of the post, one Dearest Jessica with the X handle TrulyDearest_ to swiftly take it down or face the legal consequences of such action.
A netizen, Ubaidullah Yahaya Kaura @ ubaidullahkaura posted, "Contrary to the claim, this video does not feature Senator Sahabi Yau. Instead, it shows a traditional ruler from Bodinga LGA of Sokoto State and his wife. The video has been leaked for over eight years, and the spouse addressed the issue and apologized publicly around 2017. It is imperative to refrain from spreading misinformation, as it will have no adverse effect on Senator Sahabi Yau. Take your shame."
While many netizens jumped to conclusions condemning the Senator and making allusions to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's sexual harassment case against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, pockets of responses cautioned social media users to always verify the videos they share or post online to avoid creating unnecessary tension, advising that important issues that will contribute to societal development should be the focus of social media users instead.
