Trump Threatens to Deport Elon Musk Amid Escalating Political Fallout

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the United State of America President, Donald Trump, has escalated his feud with South African-born tech billionaire, Elon Musk, suggesting that deportation could be on the table amid rising tensions over electric vehicle policy and political loyalty.

OTN News further reports as gathered that Trump speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, responded pointedly when asked whether Musk’s immigration status might be reconsidered in light of their deteriorating relationship.

Trump said, “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look. I won’t hesitate to deport Elon Musk if needed.”

OTN News observes that the comment comes amid a fierce public fallout between the president and Musk, who has recently criticized Trump’s signature legislation, the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, particularly its proposed cuts to federal support for electric vehicles (EVs), a move that could impact Musk’s Tesla empire.

OTN News recalls that Musk, who was once a vocal supporter and financial contributor to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, has since turned sharply against the administration’s direction, especially on clean energy and climate-related policies.

OTN News further observes from the information gathered that the break in their alliance has triggered a wave of political speculation and online drama.

Furthermore, OTN News observes that during the White House briefing, Trump appeared visibly irked by Musk’s remarks and hinted at retaliatory action.

“We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” Trump quipped, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a controversial government body Musk once led before resigning in May. “You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon.”

Trump went on to claim that Musk’s grievances stem from the proposed removal of EV incentives in the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” adding ominously, “He’s losing his EV mandate. He’s very upset about things, but he could lose a lot more than that.”

On his Truth Social platform, Trump doubled down, arguing that Musk’s business empire owes much of its success to American taxpayers. “Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” the president posted.

OTN News, however, observes that, Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), has yet to issue a formal response but has recently teased the formation of a new political movement dubbed the “America Party.”

He has suggested this would offer a centrist alternative to both major U.S. parties, should Trump’s bill pass into law.

OTN News recalls that their once-powerful alliance began to crumble after Musk accused Trump and Republican lawmakers of turning their backs on America’s clean energy leadership.

While the possibility of Musk’s deportation remains legally far-fetched, given his long-standing U.S. citizenship and substantial contributions to American innovation, the threat has sparked widespread debate on political retaliation, the role of government subsidies in tech, and the consequences of dissent within elite circles.
