OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that according to an adage that says "use a stone to kill two bird" the Presidency has announced that, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Friday, September 19, 2025, embark on an official visit to Kaduna State.
OTN News further reports that the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed this in a statement issued, said that the President’s trip is primarily to attend the wedding ceremony of Nasirudeen Yari and Safiyya Shehu Idris, and also pay a courtesy visit to Aisha Buhari, the widow of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Buhari family residence.
OTN News observes that Nasirudeen is the son of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, who currently represents Zamfara West in the National Assembly and is a former governor of Zamfara State.
On News further observes that the wedding, which is expected to attract top political figures, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across the country, will be held in Kaduna, a state often regarded as the political hub of Northern Nigeria.
Tinubu’s attendance at the wedding is viewed as both a social and political gesture. Senator Yari, a key member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and influential northern politician, is considered one of Tinubu’s strong allies in the National Assembly.
Observers believe the President’s presence will further strengthen his ties with northern power blocs, especially at a time when national politics continues to revolve around alliances across regional lines.
The courtesy call on the Buhari family is also expected to carry symbolic weight, underscoring Tinubu’s continued respect for his predecessor and reaffirming unity within the APC ranks.
OTN News further observes that the visit will be the President’s first formal condolence call on the family since the former leader’s passing earlier in the year.
Subsequently, Political analysts note that such gestures are vital in consolidating support in the North, a region that played a decisive role in Tinubu’s 2023 electoral victory.
OTN News learnt that Kaduna State authorities are already making security arrangements ahead of the high-profile visit.
Presidential security operatives, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, are expected to cordon off parts of the city to ensure safety throughout the President’s stay.
The Presidency confirmed that President Tinubu will return to Abuja later the same day after completing his engagements.
OTN News, however, observes that the Kaduna visit will mark the President’s latest in a series of regional trips that combine official functions with social engagements, a move seen as part of his broader strategy to maintain visibility, strengthen political alliances, and sustain grassroots connections.
