Social Media Boils As Atiku Slams Tinubu's Fuel Subsidy Strategy, Labels Him "TPain"

The Nigerian social media space has been buzzing following a statement by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, where he criticized Tinubu’s management of the fuel subsidy issue, referring to Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) as "T-Pain."

As gathered by OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News on Thursday, Atiku took to Twitter to blame the ongoing economic struggles on what he called Tinubu’s "reckless and insincere" handling of the subsidy.

In Atiku's word, "the haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country."

He further stated that, "As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians. It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country. -AA"

OTN News revealed that this nickname has sparked various reactions, with users expressing their views on both Atiku’s boldness and Tinubu’s leadership.

A user, @popoola_Hassan1, took a critical stance, accusing "T-Pain" of causing hardship in Nigeria.

According to him, Tinubu has "hijacked" key institutions, including INEC, the judiciary, and security agencies.

He suggested that Nigerians remain passive under Tinubu’s influence, warning that he might even secure victory in the 2027 elections.

Similarly, @LawrenceokoroPG commended Atiku for his boldness, saying he admired leaders who aren't afraid to challenge their opponents.

However, Another user, @Williamstalk25, echoed Atiku's sentiments, calling out "T-Pain" for allegedly having no real plans for Nigerians, aside from reducing purchasing power and expanding the tax net.

In a lighter tone, @Nwafresh humorously predicted that Tinubu's supporters, particularly Bayo Onanuga, might attempt to spin the "T-Pain" nickname into a positive acronym, standing for "Trustworthy, Prosperity, Authority, Integrity, and Nationalist."

The "T-Pain" label is likely to fuel further debate as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections.
