SNB Sets to Honour First Face on TV in

The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has announced 14th-15th August as the date of its National Conference where the first face of Television in Africa and other legendary broadcasters will be honoured.

This was made known in a statement by the SNB National Coordinator, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose.

According to the statement, Keynote Speaker at the conference, which is jointly organised by Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, Broadcast Media Africa, BMA and Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, SNB, is the Chairman of Channels Television Media Group, Dr.John Momoh, OON.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, is also expected to declare open the conference with the theme “Broadcasting and the Political Economy of Content Production in the Digital Age”.

The statement further reveals that young and veteran media practitioners, advertising professionals, academic scholars in Mass Communication and media studies and broadcast regulators from Nigeria and other African Countries will be participating in the 2-day conference that will bring together for the first time, broadcast journalists, including radio and TV producers, presenters and other stakeholders in the industry.

The Society will honour the first face of Television in Africa, Mrs. Anike Agbaje William and those who have contributed immensely to broadcasting including Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, Elder Diran Orekunrin, HRH Mohammed Ibrahim, Engr Vincent Maduka, Engr Wigwe, Bishop George Bako, Alhaji Abubakar Jiijiwa, Chief Taiwo Alimi, Dr.John Momoh, Mr John Ugbe, Sa’a Ibrahim, Segun Olaleye, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Abike Dabiri Erewa.

Others to be honoured posthumously for their legendary contributions to the industry include Ambassador Segun Olusola, Alhaji Abdulrahman Michika, Mr Ikena Ndaguba, and Chief Raymond Dokpesi, among others.

Open Television Naija recalls that the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB), a registered association of professional broadcasters in Nigeria, was created in 1962.
