A plethora of tributes have started pouring in following the announcement of the death of Dikembe Mutombo who is referred to as one of the greatest defensive players in the history is the NBA.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News gathered that the global basketball legend who was also known for his humanitarian and philanthropic work especially in Africa died from brain cancer.
OTN News reports that one of the global personalities who have paid glowing tributes to the deceased NBA star is another living NBA Legend, Michael Jordan.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about Dikembe’s passing. He was a defensive force on the court who changed the way the game of basketball is played. But more importantly, Dikembe truly changed the world and improved countless lives through his humanitarian work in Africa. I will especially miss hearing his booming laugh. My condolences to his wife, Rose, his children and his family,” said Jordan.
Tributes have continued to fall for the late NBA star with many extolling his virtues and contributions to basketball during his lifetime.
It would be recalled that some two years ago, the family of the late NBA Legend revealed that he was undergoing treatment in Atlanta for a brain tumor.
Meanwhile, OTN News reports that the NBA said Dikembe Mutombo died surrounded by his family.
