The Nigerian Senate has recommended the payment of N200 million compensation to the family of 2-year-old baby, Ivan Onose Omhonrina, who was accidentally killed during a raid on a notorious drug joint by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Delta State on July 13, 2023.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that late Onose and his younger brother, Eronmosele, got shot by strayed bullets at their mother's shop when NDLEA operatives raided the drug joint at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

The stray bullet fired by one of the officers hit Onose’s abdomen and brushed his brother, Eromonsele’s eye.

The victims were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre for surgery but sadly, Ivan could not survive it.

However, during plenary on Thursday, the case was revisited following a petition submitted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Senator Neda Imaseun.

The lawmakers observed one minute silence for the deceased and then moved a motion for a N200 million compensation to be paid to the family.
