Segun Sowunmi Showers Encomiums on Senator Ibikunle Amosun at 67, Condemns 'Weak Representation' of Ogun Central Senatorial District at the Senate

A prominent Nigerian politician, particularly known for his affiliation with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Sowunmi has congratulated former Ogun State Governor, who is the immediate past Senator that represented Ogun Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on the occasion of his 67th birthday, taking advantage of the day to condemn what he described as "weak representation" being experienced by the senatorial district at the moment.

The outspoken People's Democratic Party Chieftain who circulated his congratulatory message to the former Ogun Governor on Saturday via the social media, wrote, "On the occasion of this particular birthday of yours, I find my mind in deep reflection on your trajectory in politics especially your immense contributions to our homestead Ogun Central."

He further stated that, "I want to thank you for the huge financial support to the ongoing project in the arcade of the Ake Palace Ground. It becomes more needing of mention for I am aware that even after office the project has continued to enjoy your generosity."

"As we proceed I believe it is time for you to encourage a political review of Ogun Central relative to how we play with 2027 in view" he noted.

Otunba Sowunmi however decried the current state of political affairs in the Ogun Central District stating that, "There is no begging the issue that our legislative representation right now is very weak compared to our peers in Ogun East and especially Ogun West." 

He therefore appealed to the birthday celebrant to take advantage of the auspicious occasion of his 67th Birthday to reflect on the sustainability of the progress previously made by the senatorial district.

Otunba Sowunmi closed his encomiuns showered on the former Ogun Central Senatorial district Senator Amosun by making a strong appeal for concerted efforts by stakeholders to return the senatorial district to its days of active representation when dividends of democracy and visible developmental projects were executed by Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

"We must work very hard to correct this going forward," he said, adding that "I think that it is expedient that we put forward better materials" if the district will fare better among other senatorial districts in the gateway state.
