Remo Day 2024: Remoland Plays Pivotal Role in Ogun's Development Says Dapo Abiodun As Aare Adetola Emmanuel-King Others Shine

Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described Remoland as a united community that has achieved remarkable progress in agriculture, industrialization, education, and technology, playing a pivotal role in the development of Ogun State.

Abiodun, who participated in the Remo Day 2024 cultural celebrations thened:Progress, Unity, and Cultural Heritage, affirmed that it was his great pleasure to have "joined the people of Remoland to celebrate the maiden edition of Remo Day at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu."

He reiterated that "With the Ogun State Gateway International Airport and the Agro-Cargo Special Processing Zone, Remoland continues to play a pivotal role in our state’s development."

Abiodun emphasized that, "This celebration underscores the unity, resilience, and cultural pride that define Remoland. It serves as an inspiration for us all to foster socio-economic growth and unlock tourism potential across our state."

The Ogun Governor further affirmed that, "As an administration, we remain committed to supporting grassroots development and empowering communities to initiate and sustain impactful projects.

In conclusion, Abiodun called for more collaborations and collective efforts towards making Remoland greater as he pled with sons and daughters of Remoland at home and abroad to work together towards moving the area to higher heights.

"Together, we can preserve our rich cultural heritage, embrace innovation, and ensure that Remoland and Ogun State continue to shine as beacons of progress and excellence," he concluded.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the maiden edition of Remo Day which commenced on December 20, 2024, climaxed in a grand rally, which served as the finale of the weeklong celebrations held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, Ogun State,amid pomp and pageantry as a poutpourri of cultural displays ranging from dance to native delicacies and attires were by the different groups represented at the event. 

The grand finale began with opening prayer from the Bishop of Remo and Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, Michael Fape; and Chief Imam of Makun, Tajudeen Asaye.

Earlier, the Paramount traditional ruler of Remoland, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Ajayi welcomed all dignitaries, sons, and daughters of Remoland who thronged the venue for the grand Finale to the event.

Dignitaries present at the event include: the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Femi Gbajabiamila; the wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun; Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako; Senator Gbenga Daniel, industrialist and businessman, Sir Kessington Adebutu; former governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu; President, Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Owners, Riders, Repairers Association of Nigeria, Samsudeen Apelogun; and Group Managing Director of Adron Homes, Adetola Emmanuel-King.

Others were the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, Oba Lawrence Adebayo; Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona; Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Oba Razak Adenugba and other monarchs in Remoland.

OTN News reports that a royal banquet held at the Akarigbo Palace, Ita Oba, to celebrate the success of the programme thereafter with many prominent Nigerians in attendance. 

Before the grand finale, Remo Day 2024 featured an art exhibition at Akarigbo Palace, which was held in two parts— an art competition within Remo secondary school,  and an art exhibition showcasing the culture, traditions, towns, notable individuals, as well as the history of Remoland. It featured the official opening of the Art and Exhibition Centre in Remo with photographs, music, and a show of artifacts on display.

Following the art exhibition was the dance drama where Remo (A Total Theatre Experience) was premiered. Veteran actor, Kunle Bamtefa, led others to perform on stage. The play which drew narration from the book on the history of the land as well as stories passed down from generations, and part of the Martindale Inquiry was held at Camelot Hotel, Ilisan Remo, Sagamu, Ogun State.
