Ramadan Season: Ogun Deputy Governor Calls on Muslim Women in Leadership Roles to Serve as Good Examples For Next Generation

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has called on women in leadership roles not to see their position as just being about occupying positions, rather more of an opportunity to shape policies, influence positive change and mentor the next generation of young Muslim women to rise with confidence and purpose.

OTN News further reports that the Deputy Governor who made this statement during her annual Ramadan Tafsir for Women Organizations in the state, the third in the series, urged the muslim women to support one another, adding that the Ramadan lecture serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, sisterhood and the continuous pursuit of knowledge.

According to her, islamic faith is not just a source of personal strength, but a guiding light in a world filled with challenges in shaping families, communities and the society at large.

She added that the ability to support one another, stands firm in our beliefs and remain steadfast in our duties to one another is what truly defines us.

She noted that for those present, it showcases the invaluable contribution women bring to leadership roles across different spheres of lives as Muslim women.

The Deputy Governor stressed that as women, who have a duty to be positive role models for the Islamic faith, it was necessary for them to continue the commitment to the dean, devotion.

She, however, charged them to take inspiration from the lessons learnt at the lecture and apply them in our daily lives, nurturing their families with love, raising good children with strong Islamic values whilst contributing positively to our society.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adeleye Adijat, in her remarks, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointing a woman of substance and highly intellectual, saying she is not only the Deputy Governor of the State but really representing the women folk.

She, however, called on women to acquire more certificates and join politics in order to meet up the requirements in terms of political appointment.

Also speaking at the gracious event, the Ogun State Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lateefat Ajayi and Hon.Justice Safrat Bello, commended the Deputy Governor for bringing women together to learn more of the word of Allah especially at the ramadan period, enjoining muslim women to train their wards not only in education but more in Islam.

Speaking on the topic; "Significance of Ramadan and it last ten days," Alhaji Imam Daud Sanusi, noted that the major reason why God directed muslim faithfuls to fast was to follow God’s directives as well as fear Him.

He informed that the month of ramadan was a month God established Quran, while enjoining muslim faithfuls to change their negative thought towards ramadan period.

On the benefits of ramadan, he said “Allah gave those who observe fasting wholeheartedly, physical health benefit, fasting activate our body system inorder to memorise and control anger, increase the lifes span of not only human beings but animals and also help people to combat epileptic seizure”.

Contributing, the Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Alhaja (Chief) Mrs Yemisi Abass, stressed the need for women to assert themselves, develop interest in politics so as to gain relevance and be more closer to God for guidance.

Representatives of Muslim Women societies at the event appreciated the Deputy Governor for organising the annual Ramadan Tafseer and blessing Muslim faithfuls, praying that Almighty Allah renew her strength, grant all her heart desires and bless her abundantly.
