As part of efforts to checkmate criminal activities such as incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode- Benin expressway corridors in recent times, Police authorities activities have deployed a Special Intervention Squad to the area.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, deployed the specialized Squad during the week in line with the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of commuters and residents.

OTN News further reports that CP Ogunlowo personally inspected the security operations at the newly established intervention post recently.

The intervention police post is strategically located before Odogbolu in between Celplas Industry, Mikano Generator and Ladgroup Company on the stretch of the road.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, says the outpost, consisting of a makeshift roof shed fortified with sandbags would serve as a rapid response center for distress calls from the Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, and Owode Egba Area Commands, as well as to commuters who require emergency assistance from the police.

The Police Spokesperson explained that "this calculated approach is designed to complement other security pin-down points along the expressway, ensuring comprehensive coverage".

The strategic security deployments, according to Odutola, include:

*Two OP MESA security points positioned inward and outward Lagos on the Long Bridge.

*Shed posts with Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) at the Sagamu Interchange.

*A recently established makeshift security posts along the Ijebu Ode–Sagamu Highway to reassure road users of the active presence of armed policemen.

She further revealed that the proactive security intervention follows an earlier surveillance operation conducted on February 27, 2025, during which the Commissioner of Police identified and blocked escape routes frequently used by kidnappers.

As part of these measures, barriers have been erected to block and prevent unauthorized movement along footpaths used as getaway points while access control measures have been implemented.

Furthermore, to reinforce security on the expressway, a Quick Intervention Squad has been permanently stationed in the area, with additional backup teams patrolling the axis in an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) stationed at the Sagamu Intersection.

The Force PRO concluded that Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to combat crime and ensure that road users travel without fear or apprehension.

Meanwhile, the Ogun Police command urges members of the public to report any suspicious activities via the Command’s emergency hotlines, *08099401875* to enjoy swift rescue operations.
