Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde Declares Eligibility for 2027 Presidential Race, Addresses Speculations

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that he is eligible to contest in the 2027 presidential election noting that he will speak for himself about speculations on his Presidential ambitions in due course.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that during a visit to Fashola farm in Oyo town on Friday, Makinde dismissed ongoing speculations about his political future as unnecessary, stating he would announce his intentions publicly at the appropriate time.
“I’m old enough to speak for myself. If I have something to say, I’ll say it openly. No one can push my agenda, I will drive it when the time comes,” Makinde affirmed.
Also, reflecting on his political journey, the Governor recalled the challenges he faced before becoming Governor, including two unsuccessful Senate attempts.
"Oyo State chose to give me a chance without a godfather or sponsor, despite my lack of experience in politics,” he remarked.
Makinde highlighted the success of his administration’s "Roadmap to Accelerated Development (2019-2023)," emphasizing the people’s trust in his leadership.
“We laid out our plan in black and white, and they held us accountable. Thank God we’ve delivered.”
Meanwhile, the Governor also warned against Nigeria becoming a one-party State, stressing the importance of political diversity to allow other talents to emerge.
