The newly inaugurated Chairman, Association of Nigerian Authors,(ANA), Ogun State Chapter, Chief Abiodun Lasile, has promised to take the Association higher and more responsive through a tripartite pillar of growth, development and exposure.
Chief Lasile who stated this moments after new executive members were sworn-in by Barrister Omoyinmi Oyinkansola, said members' welfare will be given priorities through marketing and empowerment activities.
The new Chairman promised that training and capacity development will be given due attention with monthly workshops and seminars.
He said the new executives will liaise with relevant government agencies and private organisations to improve the image of Ogun ANA.
He further stated that the appointment will task his capabilities and asked for the robust support and cooperation of members to serve with unwavering dedication and integrity.
Speaking earlier, the former ANA Chairman, Dr. Chris Omotosho thanked ANA members for assisting to achieve so many feats in the four years of his two term tenures.
Royal blessings were pronounced on the new Executives by the Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof. Saka Matemilola, who congratulated the executives and pledged to support the Association to achieve its lofty aims.
The monarch urged Nigerians to write their stories to inspire Nigerians and improve societal values.
Goodwill messages were delivered by past Chairmen and Elders of the Association like Elder Dada Olanipekun, Pa A.S Ogundimu, Dr. Lucky Aikabel, Pa Opaleye and Prof. Sola Adetutu who made a case for the Association to get a plot of land for the construction of a befitting Secretariat.
Other members of the new Exco included Mr.Dare Folarin, the Vice Chairman, Matthew Simpa as General Secretary, Akinyemi Makinde as Assistant General Secretary, Ogunsola as Treasurer and Samuel Ogunyinka as PRO.
Some members of Oyo ANA at the event included Yinka Fabowale and Olumide Sowunmi who serenaded attendees with evocative songs.
Media gurus like Dara Adebimpe, Dele Ayodo and Desmond Nwachukwu amongst others attended the event.
Other highpoints of the event included reading of excerpts from Olori Ameenah Matemilola's latest books for children and one of Dada Olanipekun 's poem.
