Nigerian billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu has shared $20.7 million in cash rewards with long-serving employees of BUA Group, one of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerates.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the payouts were announced at the BUA Night of Excellence Long Service Awards held on Dec. 13, 2025, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
The awards recognized years of service, loyalty, and everyday contributions across the company.
Cash rewards spanned multiple levels: five employees received N1 billion ($691,000) each, another five got N500 million ($345,000), while others received N100 million ($69,000) and dozens more were awarded sums ranging from N5 million ($3,450) to N20 million ($13,810). The move reflects Rabiu’s commitment to rewarding employees beyond senior management.
This latest reward builds on Rabiu’s track record of supporting staff. In February 2024, he approved a 50% salary increase across the group during Nigeria’s economic challenges, and in 2021 he announced a N2 billion share bonus for BUA Cement employees who helped sustain the company during the pandemic.
Rabiu’s actions have reinforced worker loyalty and strengthened BUA’s reputation as an employer that rewards performance with tangible benefits.
