One Generation Wasted as Midnight Fire Kills Father, Mother, Their Three Children in Katsina

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that in a tragic turn of an event, a devastating midnight fire has claimed the lives of five members of a family at Kofar Sauri area of Katsina State, plunging the community into deep shock and mourning.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the tragic incident, which occurred at midnight of Monday when the family’s house was completely engulfed by flames, claimed that lives of a father, mother and their three children who were reportedly trapped inside the flames which spread rapidly across the building.

Speaking to news men after that tragic incident, residents explained that by the time they noticed the blaze and rushed to assist, the fire had already consumed the structure and its contents, leaving no chance of saving the occupants.

However, the state fire service department is yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the fire, however residents speculate it might be the result of sudden power surge.

“There was an unusual electricity surge when the light came back. That’s likely what caused the fire,” a resident said, noting that the community frequently experiences high-voltage surges whenever power is restored.
