Ogun Police Nabs Man Seen Assaulting Wife in Viral Video

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Fatai Quadri after a viral video showed him brutally assaulting his wife, Rukayat Quadri, at their residence in Illese-Ijebu on September 15, 2025.
The arrest was made known by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola who maintained that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D, has reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for domestic violence, warning that anyone found guilty of such crimes will face the full weight of the law.
On News further reports that in the footage, Quadri was seen repeatedly punching his wife, leaving her with visible injuries.
The disturbing clip sparked outrage on social media, prompting swift action by operatives of the Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu Ode, who tracked down and apprehended the suspect.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the violence stemmed from a marital dispute linked to allegations of infidelity.
Police findings further indicated that the suspect had controversially transferred ownership of a 10-room en-suite apartment, which he had jointly built with his wife, to another woman, an act that reportedly triggered the attack.
OTN News further reports that the police who noted that the victim is currently receiving medical treatment, while the suspect remains in custody, confirmed that the abusive husband will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
The Command, however, urged victims of domestic abuse to speak out and promptly report all forms of violence or threats to the nearest police station for immediate intervention.
“Silence only empowers perpetrators, but timely reporting ensures protection and justice,” the Ogun police command stressed.
