Ogun NYSC Director Honoured with UNESCO Award for Youth Entrepreneurship Development

In recognition of her contributions to the promotion of unity amidst youths of diverse cultural backgrounds and promoting youth entrepreneurship in the country, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation(UNESCO)has honoured the Ogun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu with an award
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the NYSC Boss was given the distinguished leadership award by the Director of the UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding, Professor Peter Okebukola over the weekend.
OTN News further reports that the award was presented during the 2025 Batch A Stream II Cultural Carnival held at the NYSC, Ogun State Orientation Camp, Sagamu, honouring Nasamu with the UNESCO entrepreneurship and cultural promotion.
According to the former Executive Secretary of the National University Commission, “This award recognises Nasamu’s remarkable dedication to empowering Nigerian youth through entrepreneurial initiatives and her unwavering commitment to promoting cultural diversity within the NYSC scheme.”
Prof. Okebukola further stated that, “The UNESCO has been monitoring your contributions to youth development in Ogun state and found you eminently deserving of this honour.”
He added that the award, is a direct way of celebrating Nasamu’s transformative impact, would also be formally communicated to the Director General of the NYSC.
The statement added that the award presentation was the high point of the colourful cultural carnival, which saw corps members from 10 platoons showcasing Nigeria’s richness in its various cultures through traditional dances, attire, cuisine, and rites.
Okebukola concluded that the award would also be formally communicated to the Director General of the NYSC in due course.
The UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding is a UNESCO category 2 institute located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) premises in Abeokuta, the Ogun state, capital.
