Meta Launches New Program to Boost Facebook Earnings For Content Creators

Meta has introduced a new Content Monetization beta program for Facebook, designed to enhance content creators' earning potential.
Launched on Wednesday, the initiative merges three key monetization tools, In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance bonus-enabling creators to earn from a wider range of content formats, including Reels, long-form videos, photos, and text posts.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the program unifies Facebook's existing monetization methods, offering creators a more streamlined way to generate income from multiple content types.
Previously, only about a third of creators could earn from more than one program due to varying eligibility and availability.
Since 2017, over four million creators have earned through Facebook, with more than $2 billion paid out in the last year alone.
Meta acknowledged that the differing requirements of its programs have resulted in missed opportunities for some creators, noting that currently only a fraction of them benefit from multiple formats.
Earnings from Reels and short-form videos have seen a significant increase, with payouts growing by over 80% in the past year.
The new program simplifies the monetization process by:
1. Enabling creators to earn from various content formats under a single system.
2. Providing unified performance insights for easier tracking.
3. Retaining a performance-based payout structure.
OTN News revealed that Meta has already invited one million creators currently monetizing on Facebook, with broader enrollment set for 2025. Creators interested in early access can sign up through the monetization tab in the Professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite.
This move aims to strengthen Facebook’s creator community by making content monetization more accessible and rewarding.
From July 1, Facebook users in Nigeria and Ghana with at least 5,000 followers will be eligible to earn through the platform.
