The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has provided N200 million in aid to Borno State to help address the impact of a recent flood that caused extensive damage and displaced thousands of residents.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that on Saturday, the Governor's Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, announced the donation, stating it was intended to support the flood victims and offer immediate relief.
Governor Abiodun previously extended his condolences to the people and Government of Borno, commending their swift response in coordination with federal authorities.
He emphasized that the situation had created a severe humanitarian crisis, calling for urgent assistance from all Nigerians.
The National Emergency Management Agency attributed the flooding to heavy rainfall that caused the Alau Dam to overflow, resulting in the worst flood in the area in three decades.
OTN News gathered that at least 414,000 people have been displaced, and 30 lives have been lost in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
