Gallant Officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun Have Successfully Rescued Travellers Abducted Along Sagamu Ijebu Ode Expressway, Neutralizing a Notorious Kidnap Syndicate

Victims of a tragic kidnapping incident that happened earlier on Sunday around 9pm along Sagamu Ijebu Ode Epressway during which three Indians and one Nigerian were kidnapped have regained their freedom, following the successful operations of the gallant men of the Nigeria Police Force command in Ogun state.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the victims were freed on Wednesday when the police officers from the Ogun State Police Command raided the kidnappers' hideout, resulting in a gunfight.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, informed journalists at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, that some of the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds.
The police were able to recovered millions of naira in ransom, 109 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five AK-47 rifles, eight AK magazines, and two cell phones.
Mr. Alamutu recounted that on June 30, the Divisional Police Officer in Ikenne received a distress call at around 7:10pm about a kidnapping near Delabo junction on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway, where unidentified armed men had intercepted a grey Toyota RAV 4 jeep with registration number AGL 16 JE.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija recounted the armed men, who arrived in an unregistered Venza car, fired four shots at the driver’s side tire and another at the rear side, forcing the vehicle to stop. They then forcibly abducted the occupants and fled towards Ijebu Ode.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Ogun State Command’s anti-kidnapping squad was dispatched with orders to pursue the suspects. Through a covert operation, the police located the suspects hiding in a bush. Noticing the police flashlights, it tempted the kidnappers to engage in a gunfight with the officers.
The anti-kidnapping squad's superior firepower resulted in the elimination of two suspects, while the remaining criminals escaped with injuries, abandoning their weapons.
The victims, identified as one Nigerian and three Indian nationals, were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.
Commissioner Alamutu emphasized the police command's dedication to safeguarding lives and property and announced the deployment of a rapid response team to enhance security along the Sagamu-Benin expressway.
He also urged the public to report individuals with gunshot wounds to help in apprehending the remaining suspects."
The police deserve commendation for their bravery and dedication to ending the reign of terror. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and commitment to ensuring public safety.
