Members of the 1988 Alumni set of Law graduates, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, are set to converge in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital for a reunion on Friday and Saturday with an empowerment outreach to Stella Obasanjo Orphanage and courtesy visits to both the Olowu of Owu Kingdom and the former Dean of OAU Law Faculty, Ile-Ife in the 1980s, Prof. J. O. Fabunmi who resides in Abeokuta. 

The Chairman of the Reunion Planning Committee, Mr. Taiwo Shittu in an exclusive interactive session with OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News crew on Thursday in Abeokuta highlighted that the OAU '88 Law Class, which had previously convened its reunions in major cities in Nigeria such as Lagos in 1997, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja 2017 and the last in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, code named Oluyole 2023, is poised to make the Egba Reunion a most remarkable Reunion experience for all members both at home and abroad.

According to Mr. Shittu, who was flanked by other members of the Reunion Planning Committee, namely: Mrs. Bolanle Ayorinde-Adesina, Mrs. Remilekun Olaopa, Mr. Dapo Oduwole, Mr. Luqman Laoye and Barrister Habeeb Ajayi, told OTN News that in addition to the outlined outreach programme and visits to the Royal father and their former Dean, the association will hold its Annual General Meeting under the leadership of its President, Mr. Kunle Adegun and elect new members of its Board of Trustees.

He also revealed that other high points of the Egba Reunion are members touring the newly refurbished Olumo Rocks, Nike Art Gallery, Olufunmilayo Ransome-Kuti’s Museum, health talk on high blood pressure and diabetes and Banquet Dinner to wrap up the reunion activities.

While extending his warm welcome to all members of the OAU '88 Law Class to Abeokuta ahead of the reunion billed to hold on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November, 2025, Mr. Shitu assured them all of a memorable and worthwhile reunion event that will spark old memories and further strengthen the alumni bond that exists among all members at home and abroad.

He noted that the reunion event will be streamed live to members across the world, especially those in the Diaspora.

Lending her own voice, Mrs. Bolanle Ayorinde-Adesina added that all logistics and protocols have been put in place to ensure that members have a memorable, pleasurable, and impactful reunion experience in Abeokuta as the association will bond, renew their camaraderie and cherish old time memories together during the 3-day reunion experience.

Meanwhile, Maverick Broadcaster and event host, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola of OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News has confirmed sealing an event hosting deal with the Alumni Association while OTN News crew will be on ground to package a befitting documentary of the reunion experience.
