The prestigious Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta, which parades a roll call of many prominent Nigerians such as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Oba Otunba Gbegba Daniel, Royal fathers and countless other captains of industries as its old students, is gearing up to mark its 102nd Founders’ Day Anniversary with a week-long celebration filled with exciting activities.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the anniversary celebration is organized by the BBHS Old Boys Association, will commence on Friday, January 17, 2025, and end on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
OTN News gathered from an announcement jointly made by HRM Oba Dr. Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland and Chairman, Board of Trustees, and Sir (Hon.) Justice Olugboyega Ogunfowora KJW, the National President of the association, that the anniversary promises to be a blend of nostalgia, celebration, and camaraderie for old boys, present students, and friends of the institution.
The statement has it that "The celebration kicks off with an Agora/Variety Night on Friday, January 17, at 4:00 PM.
Other highpoints of the 102nd Founders Day Anniversary of the school include:
*Saturday, January 18:
-A Thanksgiving service at 9:00 AM.
-The 102nd Annual Congress of the Old Boys Association, coupled with the election of new officers, at 10:00 AM.
-Commissioning of projects at 1:00 PM.
-An Anniversary Luncheon and Awards Ceremony at 2:00 PM, featuring the presentation of the Distinguished Old Boy of the Year 2024 Award to Dr. Abayomi Odubela (Class of 1967) and merit awards alongside inductions into the 2025 BBHS Hall of Fame.
OTN News further gathered that the festivities continues as follows:
*Monday, January 20, with a joint Thanksgiving Assembly for the junior and senior schools.
*Tuesday, January 21, hosting an inter-school debate featuring selected secondary schools across Ogun State.
-Wednesday, January 22, students will embark on an excursion to the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).
-Thursday, January 23, the anniversary wraps up with a friendly football match between BBHS and African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta.
