By: Olufemi Orunsola

An Egba Chieftain and Matron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council, Chief Mrs Florence Mojisola Oni, the Ibuso Aje of Egbaland has called on members of the union to maintain peace and order during and after the union’s elections scheduled for Thursday, 11 December 2025 at the State Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Egba-based popular Electronics merchant in a message to the council’s executive, reminded journalists and candidates that, as the society’s watchdogs, they must uphold the highest professional standards.

“It is imperative that, as journalists, you are expected to adhere strictly to the standards expected of you , and that this election does not fall short of those standards,” she said.

She reiterated Ogun State’s reputation as a “pathfinder” in the journalism profession and urged members to raise the bar further.

“Ogun remains a pathfinder in journalism, and we must continue to set a high standard,” she added.

Chief Oni also appealed for fair play, urging all stakeholders to act in accordance with the constitution and to accept the election results in good faith.

“Elections come and go, but the union remains. Let us embrace the outcome with peace”.

She therefore wished members well as they head to the polls to elect a new set of executives who will steer the union for the next three years.

The election, to be held at the State Secretariat, will determine the leadership of the NUJ in Ogun State Council for the upcoming term.
